Al Qasba, the premier tourist, leisure and family destination in the emirate of Sharjah, is marking International Breast Cancer Awareness Month, which is observed annually in October. On the occasion, Al Qasba’s facilities and walkways have been decorated in pink lights, in support of the international campaign.

Breast Cancer Awareness Month was founded in 1985 and aims to raise awareness on the importance of early detection and screening of breast cancer. The pink ribbon lapel pin is used on clothes and products as a powerful symbol not only to promote awareness, but also to open dialogue about the disease and to put an end to fear of the disease by educating people about symptoms and treatment.
