“Cave – Sharjah 2010” is an assortment of personal statements reiterated by 9 artists from the Arab world. The exhibition showcases sounding records on visual movements presented through short video expressions.

In this exhibition, we look at how such ideas are received across a variety of generations—people who have dealt with revolutions, migrations, and factional histories. These themes are presented within each artist’s own unique contributions, together embodying modern society’s rules and regulations on the metamorphic institution of “shelters”. Not only do these define who we are; they demonstrate the interconnectivity of all cultures the world over.
Participating artists are: Adel Abidin (Iraq), Mounir Fatmi, Kader Attia (Algeria), Faisal Samra (Bahrain), Khaled Hafez (Egypt), Larissa Sansour (Palestine), Mounira Al Solh (Lebanon), Mohamed Kazem (UAE) and Abdul Nasset Gharem (Saudi Arabia). The exhibition is curated by Aida Eltorie.

The opening of the exhibition will be held on November 2 at 7:00pm at Maraya Art Centre.

Exhibition Period: November 2 – December 11, 2010
Time: 10:00 am to 10:00 pm (weekdays), 4:00 pm to 10:00 pm (Fridays)
Venue: Maraya Art Centre, Block E, 3rd Floor – Al Qasba
